Hi all, joined the forum a short while ago but only just getting around to posting. I live in Sri Lanka and just over a month ago got hold of a 1998 XK8 Convertible, one of only two X100 convertibles over here (there are also two coupes).

The XK has been a dream car ever since it came out and I never thought I'd be able to own one (especially given the limited supply here) but things worked out somehow.

The car is in decent shape with low mileage (53K Kilometers) but it has a few issues chief among which is the gearbox which is showing signs of a problem (slipping gears at times, harsh shifting at times). It was throwing a gearbox fault error and defaulting to limp mode every so often before I bought it but the oil/filter/pan was changed (for the first time ever) just before I picked it up and it has been ok since although the slippage and sudden harshness remains. I'm hoping it will hold on for a while longer though!

Anyway, you all have an amazing forum here and I learned a lot about XKs in general by simply reading through old threads before I bought the car so thanks for that! I hope to be a part of your community going forward.
