Default Hi from Utah

I purchased my Jaguar XKE 2+2 in 1969 with 5,000 miles from a AT&T co-worker in San Francisco. I am retired now and in the process of restoration after many years of neglict... my bad. I'm looking forward to the camaraderie of this great forum.

Welcome to the forum craigar,

A few of us here wish we'd put our E-Types away in the garage way back and could be in your position now!

Follow this link E type ( XK-E ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XKE section for help, advice and information. Starting your own thread there on the resto would be good.

You may also like to visit the US Western Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forum.

Thanks Graham. I wish I could of stored it in a garage for all those years but it sat outside. I was moving around the states with AT&T and had to leave it in outside storage. Thanks for the input on the links.

Thanks for the kind words Steve. Being retired makes me wonder how I ever had time for a real job. I always have items needing my time and attention.

Thank you Jim! I'm getting more acquainted with the mechanics of the forum. I need to delete the picture I have at the top and post a good signature picture.

I have been taking pictures of items as I renew them (heater, etc.). Maybe I can post some before and after pictures.

I can do all the work myself with the exception of the body and interior.

Craigar,
I live in North Salt Lake and my wife owns an '05 XJ VDP in silver. We just went to see our son and his little family in Honolulu and while there I counted Jaguars. In one week I sited 23. The oldest ones looked were steel XJs from the mid '90s and I saw a variety of S-Types, X-types, XFs, steel and aluminum XJs, and a couple of XK8s. All of course looked in good running order, especially the brand new red XJ 4-door coupé. Beautiful cars all.

Where in Utah are you?

Craigar:
Welcome!
I'm on the west-side of Salt Lake. I'm sportin' an STR right now, but have owned a couple other Jags previously. (though no Jags as exciting as your 'E')

I HAVE done a number of restoration projects over the years, and would be happy to help with a worthy project like yours, if there is something minor I can help with.

Welcome, again. looking forward to following your project.

Craig,

It's not often the Mod team get individual replies to our 'welcomes' - this is much appreciated.

The 'before and after' pictures will be of great interest to current owners, past owners those who have always longed for an E-Type. Please start a thread of your own in the E-Type section and post as many pictures as you like of the restoration work.

Graham

Wow! Going to Honolulu to conduct a Jag survey... doesn't get any better than that. I'm in Price. SLC to Price was my last move with AT&T. I'm up that way a few times a year.

I have a large group from Northern Utah that come down to participate on my Motorcycle Rides with a group I formed around 7 years ago.

Back to Jags... I've been using Crown Chrome for some of plating needs. I think I'll be using Salt Lake Chrome for the Bumpers and other outside trim. Do you know of another resource. I had the exhaust manifolds Ceramic coated up there also.

Nice to make your acquaintance.

Wow, what an offer, and I really appreciate that. I'm very concerned in dropping the rear to replace shocks, brakes, rotors, bushing, etc.. It will be awhile before I'm ready to do that. I understand there are a few "tricks" in doing that and I'll be doing my research when I get ready to tackle that job.

the XKE has been on hold this winter due to finishing the inside of the 4-car garage. I have it complely insulated now with walls done. Need to finish shelving, cabinets, and all hook-ups i.e. air, 220V, tools, etc.

I have a partial interior kit from England and upholstery down here to do all interior. I will be needing a good painter and I don't have anyone down here in Price capable in my opinion.

Nice to make your acquaintance and "Thank You" very much.
