Hello all, and thanks for creating such a great community. I was a lurker here for a while before taking the plunge and buying a ’98 XK8. The strength of this community was one of the reasons I felt confident taking the plunge.
I’m grateful to live in Southern California, the epicenter of car culture, and a place where we don’t even know of this thing you call “rust”! Many years ago I had a series of very old, oddball cars: two '30 Model A Fords, a ’76 Fiat Spyder, and a ’53 Ford Consul to list just a few. Each was my daily driver — even the Model A. I’ve never experienced a performance/luxury ride before, so this Jag is a new chapter for me. I like doing my own maintenance, repairs and using aging technology as it was originally intended.
I’ve been enjoying the first few weeks of "Honeymoon" ownership going through systems bumper to bumper in consultation with a trusted Jag specialist shop. Although “Her Majesty” has a little over 118K miles on the clock, she seems to be in almost bizarrely “like new condition” mechanically and cosmetically.
