Registered wth the forum here but am looking to purchase a 2004 XJ VDP in the next few days. I plan on giving her some TLC and turning it into my DD.

I am a big DIY'er and had to sell my last project - 1985 e28 (535i) BMW as I was planning on moving and had no where to park it. Well, things tend to happen but the move did not, so I am now left with room to take on another project.

My first dive into the foray was a 2003 BMW Z4 (e85) which I installed a supercharger, intercooler, LSD, Koni's and H&R springs amongst numerous cosmetic mods. I still have it and she is a blast to run on the back roads. Also have a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited with 4.5" lift and 35's for those weekends in the dirt. Finally, my wife let's me borrow my BMW 135i pretty much stock except for the Dinan flash (total sleeeeeeeer).

Hoping the deal goes through and I will be able to contribute more in the forum in the future!

Welcome to the forum! I'm sure you will fall in love with your Jaguar, just as we all have with ours. There is no experience quite like Jaguar ownership.

Well I got the car today. Needless to say its a wonderful ride so far. Some cosmetic issues to attend to , but after a claying, polish and wax she really pops. Happy new owner!

You only got the car today and already clayed, polished and waxed it! When you wrote you wanted to give it TLC and turn it into a DD, I didn't think your meant by Monday.

Good to hear the deal went through OK.

So far all looks pretty good. Really its just mostly cosmetic stuff that needs attending. Compression check looked good, looks like the rear linkage has some worn bushings, but easy fix, and the front works look good but needs an alignment. No leaks even after running it pretty hard over the weekend.

Headliner is falling in places - typical from what I can tell and the leather on the glove box is pulling away - thanks to TX heat no doubt. Glove box should be fixed tonight or tomorrow as I have removed it and benched it with several clamps and glue.

I left it running at idle for about an hour or so and got the classic throttle body error - DSC not available, Parking Brake Error, etc. but after shutting down for a bit that cleared.

Rear tires are dry rotted so will swap those out for new this week. Overall I am pleased and am really enjoying the car.

Will try to get some pictures up this week.

Here is a picture
