Introduction.
I am a new member and new to owning Jaguars.
I purchased a used 2003 Jaguar S Type V6 3.0.
The odometer was 100,252 when purchased. I get approximately 22 mpg in city according to dash readout.
I have replaced upper front controlcontrolnd upper ball joints, tie rod end. Both front struts. Need a headliner, but not sagging.
Had a water leak, but sunroof was sealed by previous owner. It seems a caulking material was placed around the factory rubber seal on the outside of glass on top.
Electric motor clicks when power is used to open sunroof, even when trying to open manually.
To access the right-hand drain tube it appears I must remove the caulking material from around the outside of sunroof to open the sunroof.
If anyone has helpful suggestions, please respond.
Regards, Dan.

Hello, Dan,
Congratulations on your new S-type Jaguar!
And, Congratulations on your successful repairs to this point.
Sunroofs are Notorious for leaking. Especially if they were previously opened on a regular basis. In these parts (northern California) just about any sunroof on a car more than 5 or 6 years old might be sealed up with either bathroom calk or the ubiquitous Duct Tape.
My Jag has a sunroof, which the seller told me Never to open. I don't like them anyway so that wasn't hard.
My Subie came with a factory sunroof, I've never opened it. It doesn't leak, and I don't want to kick that sleeping dog!
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Every car I have owned since 1983 (with the exception of a 1997 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur), every SUV since 2000, and every pickup truck since 2007 has been equipped with a sunroof, the more recent ones being of the panoramic variety. The one thing they all have had in common is that they were NEVER opened, and they never leaked. My daughter-in-law, on the other hand, opened the sunroof on her 2006 Cadillac DTS on every good weather day during the seven years she owned it and it developed leaks that no one was ever able to completely stop. I DO like the sunlight shining in that brightens up the interior, but I will not risk opening!
