Introduction - XJS Jaguar owner - Central QLD
Hello to all Jag lovers
I have been a member since Oct 18, posting a few things on the XJS portion, but I have not done the introduction yet so here goes.
You can see my story about the purchasing of my 1980 XJS jaguar on this link which pretty much sums up the timeline in the decision to buy. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...3/#post2043772
But below is my car in the driveway day 1.
In regards to cars my first car was a EH Holden ute. It had no motor or gearbox, but my father, brother and me put one in that we had lying around. I learnt to drive in that ute going through the back paddocks, half way to school and then riding the push bike the remaining distance. I think I got it when I was 7 years old and sold it when I got my licencse at 17.
In my early 20s, I got married and had kids. The daily driver was a Valiant 770 charger, the weekend driver was a 1965 Dodge Pheonix, the occasional car was a 1968 Dodge Pheonix pillar less and the work in progress car was a Valiant Pacer. All these cars had a common beginning they needed work to get on the road. Many weekends were spent with a tarp over the hills hoist (clothesline) with the kids cot in the shade, my wife and I working on the cars. Very happy memories.
As we grew, so did the family the Charger was sold as it was impossible to put all the kids in the back (about the same leg room as the XJS). I then graduated university as a mature aged student and we moved from a small country town with a large back yard, to a city with a small backyard. So the other vehicles were also sold, and we turned into a plastic family driving late model Kia and Commodore.
While the later model cars are reliable, they do not have the personalities of the older cars, with the kids grown up, it was time for a midlife crisis.
With my XJS, it is a trip back down to our younger years, we are back under the shade cloth, working most weekends on it, just bringing her back to life. None of our cars have been show ponys, while this one will also not be a show pony, it will be the closest we have.
For the picture below, this is what she looks like today.
In my opinion, this forum is brilliant, between the technical information given, the opinions shared when asked and the friendly banter that goes on. Hope it continues
Cheers
Steve

Welcome to the forum Steve.,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums. That look so much better now.
I know you've posted in the XJS forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham

Hello Elinor
The colour is Kona, which is a 2016 Mustang colour, and yes it has the specks in it that makes it sparkle in the sun light.
I have always had a thing for blue cars
Hello Clarke
I think the X27 thread would have been the transmission lock failure. Have to follow up on that, as I found a new mechanism and managed to change it out without undoing the steering column again
Hello Grant
The Charger is the one car I wish I still owned, it was like a small XJS designed car
Cheers
