Default Jag lover

Had my Jag 2.7 2007 since 2008 ex Jag demo only 3,000 miles on clock. I love this car best ride I have ever had. Not only that when I go on a long haul to Cornwall I can get 50 miles to the gallon driving like a saint with the air con off and sport off. The worst return has been when I have thrashed it even then I got 28 to the gallon. I have just had the 90,000 big one and no fault but did have the water pump changed at the same time for expediency as they have to take the front end off.

Default Many Thanks for your hospitality

Dear Members
I am only a rookie to this Forum but already feel very welcome. I hope to spend some time on here picking up tips to keep my old sweetpea on the road operating on a pension.

Regards and thanks.

Default Welcome to Jaguar Forums

Welcome Allan ... and belated greetings from another 2.7TTD S-Type fan on the other side of the world. Plenty of good resources, knowledge and advice here ... especially over in our dedicated S-Type section

But ... I do offer some initial advice I believe you will find very valuable ...

First, I suggest a sensible caution when trying to address issues concerning your model here on Jaguar Forums ... much (but not all) is NA focused and they never received any of these beautiful Twin Turbo V6 Diesels. Even among all other markets outside the home UK, they are rare ... in some markets, very rare. Australia had to wait until well into 2006 to get our very first deliveries ... and with my VIN being in the region of N8XXXX, mine is reported by Jaguar Australia as "one of the last" ... the reality is I have yet to learn of any others beyond the 2 that were extensively road tested in late 2006.

My constantly churning mantra is to try to differentiate between "car issues" with plenty of help here in the S-Type section, as noted above ... or is it related to "engine/engine management/exhaust/some drive-train and many electronics issues". If the latter, then treat any advice here with caution unless verified by a thorough trawl through other sources, such as the UK Forum, where these cars were more prolific, better known, and more actively supported.

Oh ... did I happen to mention ... congratulations on getting the best of the best! I've owned and/or serviced most of the others ... so I know just how special this experience will be for you.
Best wishes, and see you over in the S-Type section,
Ken

Hi Ken
Looked at UK forum but find it difficult to navigate so have decided to hang out here. Thanks for the advice about the scarcity of diesels abroad i had no idea about this. This link may helpful for diagnostic although wouldn't change the setting without knowing more.

Default Re: AV Diagnostics Mode

Thanks Allan ...

Yep, this video provoked lots of interest when first aired ... some wags wondered if Dad ever got to know how the SatNav got snafu'd ... most unaware of the system's back door. Be aware though that this is no more than a back door into the central AV electronics only ... interesting, but not necessarily useful? Enter at your own risk!!! By way of contrast, the Engineering Test Mode is a really valuable on-board tool when backed up with the decoding data here on these forums.

On rarity of the 2.7TTD outside UK & Europe ... look to your VIN position 8 for engine/market ... yours will be a "1" ... simply because the factory lists no other market in the world ever received them ... except Australia from late 2006 (NZ?) where mine is compliance plated and where motoring press conducted and published their road tests on two TTD vehicles supplied by Jaguar Australia. Hence my warning to keep this in mind when you address any engine related technical queries in this world forum.

Best wishes,
Ken
