Default JAGUAR enthusiast New Here

Just bought a 1989 Jaguar VDP V12. Having a few issues hoping they are minor. I have a code saying circuit one failure bulb failure. I have located one blown fuze but is in circuit 2 not 3 or maybe I have them backwards and it is actually circuit 1. I have located the blown fuze as being the heater fan. As soon as I replace the fuze and turn the heater on it blows. So I'm assuming I have a wire somewhere that isn't ground properly. But I'm really not sure where to begin to find that wire should I just start tearing into it taking the dash apart to find the wiring issue? I really don't want screw anything up and make more issues for myself. Any and all advice welcome!!!!!

Welcome to the Forums.

I am unaware of a OBD port on the Series 3 V12 cars, BUT, your market did have a lot of strange things that ours did not get.

Members in your area/market will sort it.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forums Nichole,

Jaguar naming is a minefield.

In 1989 two different four door models were badged as XJ with the v12 engine. The XJ12 Series III was the final production of the old XJ6/XJ12 range and the XJ81 was the top-of-the-range version of the then current XJ40. Both carried the XJ badge

When you mention codes, I think yours will be the type in the lower photo where error codes can be read on the instrument pack? Let's confirm this and I'll link you to the appropriate model forum.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.
