Jaguar XK8 Coupe newbie
Hello All:
I'm a new Jaguar XK8 newbie. My first Jaguar.
Its a British racing green 1999 XK8 Coupe. I bought it from the second owner (I think) who owned it for a long time. He bought it with 40,000 miles on it and it now has 103,000. I believe he took good care of the care and did a good job maintaining it.
It does have a few issues I will need some help with repairing. Drivers window control module issues for starters that I need to fix. I've done the reset (thanks to the forum posts) but it still persists.
It also has some paint fading issues - mainly the roof and trunk. Some fading on the hood too.
It also has a front driver's wheel sensor fault. I read on here about cleaning them. I'll try that first before buying a new one.
I sure like the styling, interior and design. Cool car.
Thanks,
Hans

Hello, Hans,
Congratulations on your 'new' Jaguar! The Xk8 is about my favorite after the Xj6 series.
103,000 miles isn't too bad, there are a Lot of good miles left in that car! Any car with that many miles will need some attention on some things, especially often used items.
Congratulations on your successful repairs so far.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to working on it. The previous owner was a British car enthusiast and just retired.
I met him about a year and a half ago and said if you ever want to sell the car please call me. He did. I had first shot at it and ended up buying it.
It seems like there are more convertibles in Maryland and rarely ever see a coupe. My older brother has a 1969 E Type he has had for many years. Its still being restored.
I thought I would try to save this car!

Welcome to the forum Hans,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Mid Atlantic Region forum by following this link US Mid Atlantic - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
