Wink Just Hi

Hey y'all - just bought my first Jag since my MkII 3.8 back in 1968 and a short affair with a series II XKE coupe in the late 70s - this one a '99 XK8 Convertible. Anthracite with Tan interior 68k miles...Every bit the joy I expected and (of course) every bit the annoyance as well. After a basically clean PPI, state inspection and the first little stuff, was taking her out on our first "joy" ride. Got out about 6 miles and the Stability Control Module Fail Light followed by the Engine limp home mode...Limped home, next morning - all good. I will be pursuing this problem in the other forums but just wanted to introduce myself. I assume we'll be seeing more of each other - LOVE the car but, sadly, it takes a family to keep one on the road...

Welcome.

Battery, if the age is unknown, replace it, cures 98% of these odd messages.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forum palmward,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

As Grant has already suggested in post #4, a partially discharged or failing battery is a regular cause of weird electronic errors in these vehicles.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Northeast Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-northeast-35/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
