So here goes. Always wanted a Jaguar and after a year and three months of research , looking and evaluating etc, I finally took the plunge and bought an 1995 XJS V12. I live in Omaha NE and there was only one other that I could find around here but it was out of my price range so I opted for a fixer upper so to speak. I am getting it in shape to pass on to my kids. As at 58, who knows how long i'll be driving it
The body is perfect with no rust no dents no dings. The engine purrs like a kitten and the ride is smooth. All the guages are working well for a car with just over 100K in mileage and I am happy with that. No overheating issues either
Found a jet cover for the right front bumper that was missing. (being shipped from a Jaguar dealer in Victoria State, Malvern Australia) to complete the brightwork.
The only issues with it so far are the convertable top which is innoperative and I knew that going in.
Before I start commiting to garage fees, does anyone have any suggestions at problem solving that.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Great to hear you finally took the plunge and got a Jaguar. I have two 1995's and.just love them. Did the prior owner have any insight why the top was not working? I would start with the basics and see if you are getting power to the motor first-remember the emergency brake must be on to work top and of course car in park. If you do not have power to the motor I would work back from there and see if you have power to switch and then if car is getting message that emergency brake is engaged . If you have no power to the motor you might introduce power to the motor to see if operates with power. Let me know what you find out and I will see what my diagnostics tell me from there. Of course if you have power to switch and then to motor it would then stand to reason you would have a bad motor.
There is power to the motor as I can hear when I press the roof switch. I can hear the motor trying to engage. I was wondering about the hydraulic fluid as well. perhaps that needs a top up.I think you may be correct with the E brake issue though as it does not appear to be engaging correctly. I'll give that a try tonight when I get home from work
