Default Living the Dream

Hi, I'm Natalie (Nat). I am the new owner of a 1999 XK8 convertible. I live in a rural area in the interior of British Columbia. Unfortunately, much of our province is on fire and the smoke is very thick in our area so no topless driving. I am praying for rain and hoping the fires are under control soon.
I look forward to connecting with other Jaguar owners. I can't believe I own a Jag ....

Welcome to the forum Nat,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I've just been looking at the BC wildfire reports. In addition to the unavoidable lightning strikes, I'm amazed at the number being attributed to human causes.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

You can also visit the Canada Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/canada-73/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Welcome.

Fires are no fun, and we get our fair share, and the deliberate ones are especially bad.

Take care.

Hello, Nat,
When I had my Datsun roadster I Luved topless driving! I completely understand where you're coming from in that regard.

Congratulations on your new Jaguar too. And I also hope your fires are under control soon. I've been in the center of a ring of fire (Coast Range and Sierras) most of the summer. Now we're having afternoon T-storms to set even more fires.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome Nat. I live a few hours from you and the rain came this morning.Hopefully the fires will go out and the air will clear soon. The filtered sun did make some interesting lighting for photos.

Thanks for the welcome. We got a spot of rain this morning, hopefully more to follow. We have smokeless skies today! I took advantage of the conditions and got out for a quick drive.
And yes, cool light for photos. I got some shots of the 'red' sun.
I went to a car show yesterday and found a fellow Jaguar owner. He gave me the name of a great mechanic in town. Everything is falling into place.

Good to hear the rain has arrived - never a problem for me here in England.

Be sure to check the XK8/XKR FAQ's for regular issues with your model:

1. plastic tensioners
2. cooling system
3. transmission fluid changes

These are reliable and long lasting vehicles provided these items are resolved.

Graham

Thanks Graham,
I will be sure to read the FAQs. We have a mechanic in town that was trained by Jaguar. I am going to bring her in and have him do a thorough exam. Nat

let me know how the jaguar mechanic works out please. They are getting harder to find in our area. I have been through Knutsford and it is an awesome place to drive a jaguar. Especially highway 5a from Kamloops to Merritt!

Welcome Nat to a fellow XK8 owner! Hope the rains will quell those fires in your area. We have little chance of rain here this time of year and have a few fires around the area as well. None so far of the devastating ones of years past and that's truly a blessing, considering the hot summer we've had. Seem to be having lots of little blazes along the highways, however, surely the work of an arsonist.
