Long time owner - new member
Hi
I've owned my '98 XJ8 since 2005. I was on the Motorcars forum for a while. I bought the car with about 50K miles, it currently has 110K. I had a rocky beginning with the car with various issues - including cutting out, but many of those issues went away with the throttle body recall. I also went through 2 water pumps pretty quickly until the newer metal design was installed.
After that initial period of problems the next 7 years have gone with almost no problems at all. The local indy Jag mechanic swore that he could hear the tensioners going out 4 or 5 years ago, I bought some used second generation from eBay about that time, but I have not installed them, they are still sitting in the garage in a box. The car has a few issues that I need to fix - the ABS - trac error light is on , and the front suspension "bonks". I have started to tackle these issues and hope to have them fixed soon.
