Howdy y'all!

As per the title, I've long been a fan of Jaguar and just last month became an owner. After lurking and utilizing many of the service articles on the site, I figured I'd join!

I came into Jaguar ownership through a friend on another enthusiast forum. About two years ago, he bought a black cherry (originally Carnival Red) 1995 Jaguar XJR that someone had converted to a 5 speed manual (Getrag 290, just like the ROW cars). After having driven a friend's X300 XJR around a parking lot several years back, the hook was in. I had to have one of the rarest of cats in my garage. And finally, I got a PM from him and I hopped on a plane to Boston and between another good friend and I, bought the thing

She's got 191k on her, unknown mileage since the swap, but drives beautifully. The paint is pretty poor, but the car is straight and rust free. My only Euro car ownership experience was my E46 330i I had for 6 years, great car, but it didn't stir me like this one. And James May says, this gives me the fizz. The ride and handling is like none other: she's a controlled, flat-cornering beast, yet über compliant and silky smooth. I've always said these cars are very Jekyll and Hyde and I'm glad to be able to back this up. The supercharger whine above 3,000 revs does nothing to quell this. This Getrag 290 has lived a tough life and definitely is not the smoothest gearbox at this point in it's life, but rowing your own couldn't be much more satisfying. Many mystified valets await.

Maintenance wise, it's mainly mileage/age related issues. Cosmetically is where the most work awaits *touches wood*. I have motor mounts and trunk struts waiting to go on and after developing a surging issue, I've got a fuel pressure regulator on order (both pumps were replaced recently).

Anyway, enough text, y'all are here for pics.

A friend of mine did some re-wiring on the headlights, so now she has much nicer X308 units with LEDs for the pilot lights.

Of course, being a Jag, she wouldn't be without a temper nor would she deign from marking her territory lol.

With the old fugly lights too...

Congratulations on your new Jaguar!
May you have a looong and satisfying relationship.

I positively Luv your "Korean refrigerator on wheels." I have one of those, and a more apt description I've never seen.

Welcome.

That headlight upgrade is a must. The OE lights are terrible.

Let the fun begin.

Cheers, thanks for the welcome. Yes, she is indeed an X300.

Already sourced wood trim for local scrappers to return the ski slope and ashtray to their former glory.
