Default Low oil pressure lamp

Hello Friends ,

I have a Jaguar Vanden Plas 1998 , 176.000 mileage. Unfortunally I have a Low Oil Pressure problem. After I start the engine everything is actually fine .But when the engine gets warm and the car is idle position the low oil pressure lamp is on. But if I accelerate the oil pressure lamp gets off again.

Anyone can help me what I should do . How can a fix the problem?

Thanks a lot .

Tugrul

Remove the oil pressure switch and use an external gauge to determine the oil pressure at idle.

Sometimes a faulty oil pressure switch can be the cause. Due to the vehicle mileage, worn rod and main bearings may also be the reason for low oil pressure at idle.

Welcome to the forums Tugrul,

As NBCat has already advised, you need to determine if it's a faulty sender or genuine low oil pressure. Another low pressure cause at low engine revs is Jaguars MUST have an oil filter with a non-return valve. Several aftermarket filters will FIT but don't have the non-return valve.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/ to the X308 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.
