Ok so maybe Kansas is not the best place to own a Jag XK8 but I bought one anyway. I have a 1998 XK8 and when I bought it it had 27,000 miles. Blue, blue top and ivory brown interior. Drove it to Miami and back in December and averaged 26.8 mpg and man what a ride.

Now occupied fixing all the nit picky stuff and looking forward to the warmer weather.

Let us know what you're fixing, and if you need any help!

I love the dark blue...mmmm, yes. That's great gas mileage, now try to keep your foot out of it in town. Have you found the 'kick-down' switch? It took me 2 months to find mine. lol

Welcome Mark@ddi,

Hey, Kansas can't be any worse than Chicago. Is there a such place as a bad place to own a Jag? That's a great drive! I did it from Chicago & back (although I had a rental (Pontiac Grand Prix)). I think I'll do the drive again - but with my Jag.

Not everyone understands the love affair that you can have with your car. My father is 93 and owns several old Fords that he restored himself. All well done and all "drivers." I guess I got it from him.

The Jag is my 60th car. I have had some nice rides in my time but I have to say that I just can't wait to drive this car. This is the kinda car where you go into the garage and turn on the lights and just look at it.

I am a hunter of used luxury. I got a great deal on this car knowing that it needed some TLC. So far I have replaced an
EGR valve, cracked motor mount brackets, bought a boot for the top, replaced a cover that I cracked under the nose, replaced a cracked tail light, and fixed a broken driver's seat. New serpentine belt and filters. I am still in the black and at the low mileage I am ready for spring and beyond.

Took steel wool and WD 40 to the exhaust tips last night to get a good shine and started working out those surface scratches with Meguiars. Got a stiff paint brush and attacked all of the accumulated dust in the engine compartment, trunk, etc.

This car is gorgeous and a lot of fun.

Kick down switch....yeah I found it on the way to Miami.

She's my Lady J.

Wow, I don't think I'll have owned that many cars when I turn 300! (that or I'd have to turn to the darkside and play Gone in 60 Seconds).

I'll be itching to take a nice road trip when I take delivery of my XF s/c TOMORROW

I spent a few hours at my dealer yesterday admiring the new cars that are more than my mortgage.

Settled up my bill for nit picky stuff and decided that the upscale dealers are a lot like having a Park Avenue Dentist with an aggressive treatment program!

The comparison is great. You do come out looking good with either one!
