Default map update

I have a 2003 type s 4.2. I'm in the process of updating my navigation maps. the screen reads "Please wait, reading disc". It' been running for 2.5 hours. The key is in accessory mode.
How long should the update take? I'm concerned my battery will fully discharge in accessory mode.
