Smile My 1st Jag

Getting to old to fit in my MG GT. I dug into my bucket list and went looking for a Jag. Found a beauty ..... 1997 Vanden Plas British racing green (of course) It is still nicely nestled in the previous owners garage until I get mine finished. I drove it for only about 5 minutes, and now the add is no longer on the internet I don't even have a picture of it.
Oh well just a few months and it will be spring. Hoping to enjoy many happy hours driving throught the beautiful Okanagan ... maybe a few wine tours

Welcome to the forums Terry,

As it's a Vanden Plas it must be a four door BUT 1997 was a model change year. Is it the 6 cylinder XJ6 (X300) or the V8 XJ8 (X308) that superseded it?

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj6-xjr6-x300-26/ to the X300 forum ot this one https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/ to the X308 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

I had to Google "Okanagan Valley" - it looks a beautiful location. You can also use the Canada Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/canada-73/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Hi Graham,

Yes it is a 4 door and it has the 6 cylinder.
I think it is totally loaded with all opions .... noticed even a Beatles CD in the Player in the boot.
Will post pictures when I pick it up. I read they are not a great snow car, but can't wait to take her for a good long drive.
Thanks for posting

I’m a relative newbie to Jags as well. Picked up my 07 XK last year and have been gleaning info from the forums here ever since. Lots of great info helping me get a pretty clean car into downright “squared away” condition.

Hi Terry,

Greetings from just up the road in Prince George. I'm sure you'll enjoy driving your new Jag. The people
on the forums are great and very helpful when you do have an issue. Bought my '97 XK8 in Vancouver in
June and the drive back through the canyon and valley was pure joy.

Hi Terry,

I'm sure that you will find that your Vanden Plas is great to drive.
They are also very beautiful cars and a very comfortable ride I'm sure.
I'm thinking of adding one for family occasions when I have more
than 1 passenger. Add some pictures when you can. I'd love to
see it, especially inside.
I was lucky that the previous owner took really good care of mine.
As for handling it hugs the road like glue and the most comfortable
ride I've ever owned. As far as power goes, 5 1/2 hours from Hope
to P.G. Mine is also parked for the winter but come
spring time......
