Hello dear Jaguar fans. I've been reading this forum for quite some time, finding answers and tips and clues. I own a 2004 XJ8 Vanden Plas. I could never figure out what is the difference between XJ8 and Vanden Plas, and less importantly, why did they come up with a name that sounds like a cross-breed between Dutch and German. What is important is that this car sports the most beautiful color of them all: Seefrost Metallic. That is, I must confess, the reason I bid for it at an auction. I went there having examined four Mercedes candidates and ended up driven by my instinct. Great irrational decision.

XJ6 is the MODEL, Vanden Plas is the TRIM specification. The name is that of a very old established coachbuilder which eventually became part of Jaguar and is used for their top specification vehicles.

Welcome to the forums, Harlok. The Vanden Plas was I think at the time your model was made the highest spec XK8, short of the Super V8, which was a supercharged Vanden Plas. My daughter has an '06 Vanden Plas, which she bought when it was almost new, which she loves dearly. It has been very reliable as well.
