This stay at home order has been bad for my driveway. A little more than 2 weeks ago I picked up a pair of Jeep Grand Cherokee's at a near 2 for 1 price. One will make a good winter beater and serve to haul our pop up camper and the small boat I just rescued from my brothers house. The other will be sold to offset the amount paid, potentially netting a free Jeep.
With 3 new things taking up driveway space I received an unexpected text from a good friend who had moved across the country many years ago. His exact words were "Any chance you're interested in a free project car?" That's not something I can really say no to. I made that mistake once back in high school with the same friend. I still regret passing up the 1982 RX-7 that only needed rear wheel bearings.
It is his mom's 2004 Jaguar X-Type. It has the 2.5l and a manual transmission. A v6, AWD, manual transmission sedan with only 83k miles? Even better! The reason it is free is that she doesn't want to pay for repair of the clutch/transmission problem it is having (see my post in the other section).
It will make another great winter car. It will be a commuter for me since my primary car, a Nissan Leaf, doesn't particularly like it when our Central Illinois winter temps drop below zero. It's the only time I get range anxiety.
I'm thankful to have a good resource like this site to help me sort out the issues the car is having and help me get it back on the road.
I can see you've already found your way to the X-Type forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
