My gorgeous new Jax FL basketcase
Hello all. Newbie here to Jag ownership, although I’ve been through the Land Rover (Defender) ringer more than once, so not my first rodeo with the finest of British engineering.
Picked up a 2007 XK Convertible 4.2. It’s gorgeous…and a bit of a basketcase. Looks like some water intrusion in the past through the quarter windows, so aside from the mold (which doesnt scare me), there are a host of electrical gremlins that I’m expecting to battle. The car last ran about 2 months ago, and now just throws error messages when pushing the ignition. Doesn’t even think about turning over.
Not too sure where to start, but looking forward to hopefully tackling the demons with ample help from the Forum. I’ve got a shop with a lift, ample tools, I’m plenty patient, and chronically optimistic.
If you’re in Jacksonville, hit me up sometime.

Hey, welcome to the forum!
For what it's worth, my old LS V8 ran perfectly fine after being flooded up to the hood in lake water. The only problems I faced was a dead driver seat motor and I kept popping alternators every 6ish months, so it seems these cars are more electrically sound than people think.
Best of luck with your project,
RyRob

Hello,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar Project Car!
See, the thing people don't understand about Jaguars, YOU don't choose them, THEY choose you.
Your car has Waited for a new owner just like you to come rescue it from certain doom.
It Knew by the way you looked at it, This Is The One! I'll Take Him! He'll Take Care of Me.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
