Hi, I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a 98 XJ8L. All going well, it should be done in the next few days. If anyone has any quick tips on what to keep an eye open for, or questions to ask the seller, it would be much appreciated.

Looking forward to using and contributing to these forums.

cheers

Welcome to the forum Windsorlad111,

Follow Norri's link to the X308 tech section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...k-links-20090/ is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Hope the deal works out OK.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

well, the XJ8 was sold before I got to it, so now it looks like we are on for a 95 XJ6. should be sorted out in the next day or two. i did test drive an 04 S-Type which was very nice, but it was a bit above my budget, but more than that, I knew I would be thinking about XJs. I just love that style.

I've had both an X300 and an X308 and would have either again. You may find this X300 Buyer's Guide useful:

Better luck getting your hands on this one.

Ended up getting a 96 XJ6, black in very nice condition. Love it. I'll get round to photos soon.

There is a rattle which sounds like it is coming from the rear view mirror, although it may be in the console above it. Anyone experienced that?

Congratulations on the X300.

Rattling mirror is a regular issue. A forum search will bring up plenty of posts and advice.

Console can work loose, often if it's been removed an dnot pushed back in the apring clips properly.

If you can't turn up the answers with a search, post the question in X300 tech section.
