Question Need help quickly re: 2004 XJ8

I am quite sad and lost regarding my beautiful jag and what to do. I am in Ca car is present.y in Santa Maria). This car has been babied (less than 67k miles) and very well maintained since it was purchased new. The car looks amazing inside and out- problem is, my engine died Friday and I found out yesterday the engine is seized. I have been quoted 24k for a factory refurb motor and 9,400.00 for a used motor w/79k miles and no history. Both more than the car is now worth. Any suggestions? Does anyone know of someone/someplace that buys cars in wonderful condition?
Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

I'm sorry to read about your dead Jaguar. If this had happened to me I know what I would do about it, but you may not have the necessary skills to fix the problem yourself. As you have discovered, such work on a 10 year old car isn't cheap when one hires it done.

Someone will be along shortly to direct you to the section most able to help you.
In the meantime, Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Forgot to mention that unfortunately, I am currently not in a financial position for either option. A guy at the shop has a friend that offered me $800.00 for the car as it is. Just not sure that is a fair value. I would love to find someone that would have as much love and respect as I did for the car. Don't know where to start or look. Heard about people buying from auctions, but where???
Thanks, again to all Jaggies!!!

Welcome to the forum JagLuv,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums. Sorry to hear about the engine disaster.

Unfortunately Jaguars with blown engines or transmissions go for very little money. If you don't have the skills or facilities to do an engine rebuild yourself then parking it up until you can find a lower cost used engine is going to be less painful.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
