New '89 XJ-S Conv. owner in Finland
Hello,
I bought my first Jaguar two months ago: '89 XJ-S 5.3A Convertible, 105,000 km, British Racing Green and Magnolia leather trim.
The car is in surprisingly good condition considering the age and passed the local inspection including emission test in May without problems. Naturally there are some issues that need attention: occasional misfire during idle in left bank and gas smell in the boot being the first ones on the list.
Unfortunately our top-down driving season up here in Finland is quite short - on the other hand this gives a chance to work relaxed on the car during fall/winter. My plan is to do a lot of cleaning, replace all fuel hoses and ignition parts from coils to spark plugs and while I'm at it probably also do a compression test. Of course I will also have a look at the cooling system although the temperature gauge does not rise much above halfway between C and N.
Thanks a lot for a great forum - it has provided a lot of information even before asking any questions!
