Hello fellow Jag owners,
I just got my first Jag a couple of months ago. It's a 99 VDP S/C with 79,500 miles now. It runs great and I love the power and ride. It is in great condition inside and out. I have been reading alot about the timing chain tenioner and was wondering if anyone know of a way to find out if my Jag had the tensioners replaced. I know that my car has been registered in the same town the since new, I'm the second owner according to Autocheck. Someone told me I should call the dealers to check. There are 2 Jag dealers my town but would they tell me...maybe for a price? Has anyone inquired about repairs from local dealers about their used Jag? What about any web site...data base... out there that I could check on my car.
I am considering buying an extended warranty from one of the many internet companies out there, does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks in advance.

HI 99,
And welcome...I wouldn't hesitate to call your local dealers to inquire about your car's history. My car is a local as well (I'm second owner) and although I have not asked my dealer anything yet, I would think they should be willing to give out service history for you. I found some old service records in my car and the funny thing is- the guy who owned it has the same initials as I! It's almost fateful that I found this car. Same initials and he's obviously Italian like myself.
I didn't do any research for extended warranties, just bought one from the dealer. I'm not going to worry about whether it's a good company or not though. Too much wasted energy. I hope to not ever need the warranty so only time will tell.
Good luck!
Tom

Welcome..sounds like you have a nice JAG..I think the dealer will give you information you seek (have VIN ready)...But as far as aftermarket third party warranty Co...I'd be careful..I've heard of some horror stories about them and you must read the fine print..
Jaguar offers an in house extended warranty...Then again, I think it has restrictions as to howclose to in time to thefactory warranty expiring..

Hi 99VDP and welcome to the forum and Jag ownership.....sounds like you got a great ride there.

Re history - Don't hesitate to call Jaguar and ask for service history.....Give them the VIN and they should be able to offer a full print out for you c/w any warranty work done too.
Extended warranty - If you can, go for Jag extended warranty price permitting.
Good luck
Jim
