Just nosing around as I seem to have accepted that I will maintain the wife's Jaguar going forward. Recently after sitting for over a year all the smoke leaked out of the alternator.

Thanks Graham,
I have lots of partial tins of Lucas smoke left over from numerous older British Cars I have owned. I was under the impression that this 98 XK8 tended more to Ford electrics than Lucas.

Yes - the Prince of Darkness no longer reigns supreme in the British motor industry!

I speak from experience when I say that putting the smoke back in an alternator isn't as hard as putting it back in, say, a heater fan.

I see that Steve has already guided you to help and assistance and Graham has even provided you with a replacement part number.

You can't beat these guys!!

Welcome to the forum.
