New to the forum, and to the Jag! ('88 XJ6)
Hello, JaguarForums! I found the forums while looking to find where the air injection check valve goes on my car-- didn't find it specifically, but found a very helpful post which linked me to a service manual, which... well, you get the idea.
Anyway, I have had the car for three years, it ran for about four months and then quit on me. I tried hiring several mechanics to work on it, but the first wanted too much money (probably the correct amount, mind, but outside of my budget) to fix "it", and the rest simply never "found the time" to do more work on it. So I purchased a Haynes and started tinkering. Turns out that, 1, the intake manifold gasket needed replaced, so I took care of that, and 2, that many of my hoses (especially the cooling system ones) had either rotted or ripped. Since one of the mechanics had very kindly removed most of the rotted hoses without marking them, I have had to replace them by guess at many times. Still, thanks to the help I've already gotten (the service manual, remember?
), I am actually fairly confident in finishing up the basic engine work and making it drivable in the next week or so. Only one hose that I can't locate, and if I can't figure it out in the next couple of days, I'll see who might be able to help me.
Oh, and I'm Hal Drake, from Dayton, OH. Just to actually, y'know, introduce myself.
