Default New to forum in need of help :(

Hello 😊
I am new to forums in general and have just joined this one.
I am 19 i own a 2004 v6 sport manual s type.

I recently was entering the dual carrige way from a slip road. I went to shift thinking i was in second when i was in 1st so i accidently hit the rev limter realised i was in first put the clutch down and it got stuck? Managed to get it back up and put it in third got home with minor shifting (about 3 times) the clutch doesnt seem to want to come back up and when i engage it the biting point is much lower and the gears tend to crunch.

once i got home i tried creepimg slowly in 1st and changing to 2nd and i heard a vacum / sucking noise when i put the clutch down....

So basicly it still engages with some trouble isnt right at all just wondering wjat i can do havnt had a look yet as its late but will be doing so tomorrow with my dad who is a good mechanic any help is appreciated i wpuld rather no one left comments calling me an irrisponsable driver i just want advise on how to solve the issue.
Thanks for the help Rob.

Welcome.

Not at all familiar with the manual S Types, as we dont have them down here.

A clutch is a clutch, and I am thinking that when you realised your blunder, the very sudden reflex of de-clutching, has caused a return spring to dislodge.

I think a systematic look from pedal to trans will find the iussue.

I dont see the rev limiter having any input into it.

A simple repost in the S TYpe section will get way more responses than this area, simply due to the numbers of people in each section.

Rob, you're not the first one to grab the wrong gear and you probably won't be the last. It's not a matter of irresponsibility, it's a matter of pure excitement, which all of us have suffered at least once. The difference is, you've admitted it openly.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum Jagv6,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Fluid all over the place is almost certainly a pipe or a cylinder seal failed. Good news is it should be a low cost fix.

Follow Norri's link in post #9 to the S-Type forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
