Hi, My name is Jerry and I am new to the forum. been reading for a while. Thank you all for your previous posts they have been most helpful in helping me solve several issues. I purchased a 2005 XJR and my better half a 2004 XJ Vanden Plas a year ago. her car is in great shape mine turned out to have been neglected and I have been working it back to health with lots of time on my back and other awkward positions in attempts to bend and twist to get parts of and on. Latest bit to tackle is further work on the suspension. Seems the lower control arm bushings front and rear need replacing. Parts in the US for the complete arms are super expensive. Three questions: I would like to save some $$$'s by simply replacing the bushings. Has anyone had success replacing the bushings? My local independent Jag mechanic tells me to only use genuine Jag parts. Jag in the US doesn't sell only the bushings they only sell the complete arms for $900 each...I need all four corners. It appears the same parts are much cheaper if purchased in the UK. Given the high parts prices in the US, has anyone successfully purchased parts directly from a parts shops in the UK? Who do you recommend? Finally, I read in one of the forum that Moog in the US was preferred by someone for Bushings. Do Moog parts meet or exceed OEM quality? I ask as the local mechanic warned me about parts made in China not working properly from the start. Thanks again for all the previous threads that have helped me. Thanks in advance for your answers here.
Welcome. Have you checked with suppliers like SNGBarratts or Moss Motors? I order from them.... more often than I should and as often as not I get genuine Jaguar parts. Still, I doubt it will be cheap. Theres also the wrecking yard approach if you can find good used ones. Wrecking yards often advertise on ebay also, maybe you could get decent used ones? Good luck
I have looked at SNGBarrats and Jag Bits. Their pricing seems to be on the higher side. I see some parts shops in the UK with much lower pricing and willing to ship to the US. But, I am not sure of the quality of the parts. I would like some recommendations from the forum from those in the UK as to what shops the give high reviews to. Also like to know if someone has had success with Moog bushings in their Jag.
Most of the suspension parts on modern Jaguars are manufactured by Lemforder - part of the ZF group company in Germany: https://webcat.zf.com/?SPR=4
Here is an example from their catalogue for the X350.
As you can see, bushes are available separately. It is possible to source Lemforder parts from motor factors and some Jaguar aftermarket parts specialists also hold comprehensive inventory. One in the UK that I have used is Berkshire Jaguar Components. Here is a link to their online page for your model: https://www.berkshirejagcomponents.c...s-c102x2777200
