Default new guy checking in with issues B-)

new guy with a new toy. Just picked up a 97 XK8 conv with a couple of issues

1. Head lights will not come on, driving lights work fine, the high beams will come on when the stalk is pulled back.

2. Passenger seat is all the way forward and will not go back.

3. did not get a remote for the locks and only got 2 keys and one of them is the valet key

car has 51,000 miles and has been babied, i intend on keeping this one a while and look forward to knocking down these issues. hit me up with any insight you can provide.

I have the ability to work on the car just not the time right now, so i am looking to get a head start on the diagnosis for when i get the chance to do some work on the car.
( did that make sense?)

i know that i have a timing chain upgade in my future as well as front end bushing replacment. but that can wait for a while.

About me, I have had some kind of british car most of my life. my first car was a MG MGB GT that i kept alive for 8 years (78-86) and sold it to my neighbor who took it to college. since that car i have had Bugeye sprites TR7s, Midgets, spitfires, MGB's and scratch built a lotus seven with miata drive train. I even did 13 years in the SCCA (89-02) with several H-Production Bugeye sprites. After getting out of racing I built a Cobra replica that morphed into a Twin turbo 302 Monster that is fun to drive but not the least bit refined it has 62,000 miles on it and is in the process of being revitalized( only driven to church on sundays by a little old lady) ok maybe not.
