New guy with X-type 5 speed in Atlanta area
Hey guys, my name is Jay and just joined the board for some more knowledge. Doing more searching and reading than posting
.
I have a 2002 Jaguar X-Type 5-speed and overall its a great looking and driving car. Needs a passenger wheel bearing (can't tell if it's front or rear just yet. Probably rear since it gets hotter back there) and replace an hid bulb. Other than that no issues other than a brake job I plan on doing at the same time.
This isn't a daily driver, I have a Volvo V70 T5 for the daily grind so the Jaguar can stay in the garage and come out just for fun. I have had TONS of cars as hobbies through the years from a '62 Continental, '74 911S Targa, '93 RX-7 twin turbo....the list goes on. No Jaguars before so I'm trying something new.
Thanks for all the good info and future input. I'll be as useful as possible here. Pics of the gal:

Hey Jay, welcome aboard one of the friendliest sites around
Good to have you here with us .......thanks for the picsgreat lookin X type you have there. I had an 02 2.5 manual 5 speed myself, great ride and the AWD is awesome.
Do yourself a HUGE favour and read / re read the X type FAQ quick link thread.....there's tons of info there on the X for you.
Things like door handle issues, dash vents popping up and T/C fluids change all covered and more....
There's some great guys / techs here and always plenty going on, great info and usually plenty of banter.
I've manually upgaded you to full forum access so jump right in and enjoy
Thanks for the upgrade Jim! I actually fixed my defrost vents with some double sided tape before I read the FAQ's. I may have to readdress that when it gets hotter. I'll be sure to take care of the cars NEEDS before the wants. Every car is an adventure but the journey IS the destination.
Cheers!
Jay

Nice looking car. Think that is the first red with sport bumpers I've seen. I needed to do brakes when I got mine. Picked up a set of 4 drilled/ slotted rotors with ceramic evo pads for about $180 shipped and have been more than happy with the added bite, added noise is reasonable as well.

Just picked up the same deal roughly with shipping on ebay, I'll be throwing them on when I do that rear wheel bearing. Transfer case fluid replacement will be done at the same time. I had a Galant VR-4 for years and the transfer case was SO EASY to change the fluid in so this will be different.
All red with sport bumpers and black leather a sort of odd combo? I was attracted to all the body molding and grille being color matched but was unsure was the standard looks were.
Welcome to the forum!
Oh one other thing you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for.
Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site.

Read up on the tc. I went with wildbills kit and though pricey works good enough I will change it yearly. At least your cams won't walk away like the vr-4. Always liked their sleeper looks but was at a place in my life the orig. Legacy turbo made more sense. I loved that car until it rusted away. Get some paint for those calipers while your at it and you'll look great behind the wheels for a year or so.
Hehe hey Bob I think you mean the crankwalk not cams on the Mitsu. Some older Mitsus had the crank shift (walk) off the bearings slightly, mostly this was 2g Eclipse and Eagle Talons not on the 1g DSM, VR-4s, and early Evos as much.
