Hello from New Mexico!
Just bought a 1999 XJ8 off of Craigslist for $2,500. Seats are in poor condition, but mechanically the car seems OK. Getting a clunk when pulling away from a stop, so from what I've learned here it is probably the "A drum". I'm in the process of ordering the parts to do the job myself. Lots of good info on that here. Very helpful site, thanks to all the people who made it so.
PO had the chain tensioners/water pump/thermostat housing upgrades already done.
I'm in the process of refurbishing the leather seats. I've never done that before, but with some YouTube videos, it's actually coming along OK. I'll get some before pics now and post some after pics when it's done.
I owned an '89 XJ6 that I really loved, but it was stolen and never recovered.
Thanks again for such an informative site. Looking forward to learning a lot, although probably won't have much knowledge to contribute.

Welcome to the forum Doomer,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
Shame about the transmission issue but good that all the other regular problem areas have been done. Many of us have had good results with leather refurbishing kits and relacement covers are also available if you want to splash the cash.
It sounds as if you've already found the modle forum but if not, follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Southwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-southwest-37/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
