Talking New to Jags and new to this forum.

Hello all,

I just purchased my first Jaguar. Its a 2000 Jaguar S Type, 3.0 V6, Automatic, 180,000+ miles.

I was driving down the street in my neighborhood and saw it with a sign in the window - $1000 As Is. The owner said he had the transmission filter and fluid changed, and it started having problems shifting. He got mad and told his wife to have a junk yard come and take it away. Thankfully, she insisted on trying to sell it.

There was no rust. The paint looked great. The interior needed the headliner and the center panels of the front seats replaced. The engine sounded great, and the transmission sounded good. I bought it on the spot.

It ran great. The ride was great even though there was a little noise in the suspension. The A/C wasn't as cold as I would like, and it did have a shifting problem. I charged up the A/C and added 3 QUARTS of transmission fluid. Problems solved! Now, I am going through the car one system at a time. I expect to find all of the problems associated with a 13 year old car with 180,000+ miles, but, at $1000, I think I got a pretty good deal.

I look forward to working with all of the members to help solve some of the mysteries of Jags in need of some TLC.

Welcome to the forum Jim89,

Good to have you here with us at Jaguar forums. That was a great bargain.

I can see you've already found your way to the S-Type forum so no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Thanks All for the welcome.

I have added my car info to my signature as suggested.

Even though I design software for a living, I do not spend much time in forums. Please excuse any errors in forum manners. Thanks again for all of the help.
