New to Jaguar Family
Hi,
My name is George Robinson, and have been a fan of Jaguar since about 6/8 years old, when my uncle put me on his lap and let me drive his (I believe it was the E-Type) in front of my great grandmother's house. Since then I have had a one sided love affair with the brand.
The XJs have a classy styling that has only improved with time, and though my first experience was with the sporty ride, I ma crazy for XJ. I am fortunate enough to have a wife that is a fan of Jaguar (almost as much as me), so we decided to get an extra car and made it a Jag. We found a pretty blue exterior with around 100K miles (1989) that wil be a summer car for us. It seems to have been maintained very well.
We live in central Pennsylvania. Iif anyone knows a good independent mechanic for Jaguar it would be greatly appreciated. We have had good success with our Volvo V70 (2005) at Swedish Motors in Marietta, PA. We bought it new in 2004, and have had 135K rock solid miles with it. A little drive for solid work is not a problem for us.
Our other vehicle is a 2008 Infiniti FX35, that I am a fanboy of as well.
I will update the signature stuff, and hopefully get a pic or two up tomorrow or Wednesday.
Looking forward to learning a lot.
Geo

Debbie,
Ours is a 2008 (still a babe since it only has 36K on it). It is black on black, which I think is the best look any car can have, lol.
I think it has a near perfect look of being masculine enough that fellas feel fine driving it, and women seem to feel like it represents them pretty well too. Engine is strong enough to move it pretty well. It handles very nicely, and feels solid (not as rock solid as my V70, but solid enough). It is a vehicle that seems meant to be driven, not just for you to endure driving (if that makes any sense).
Your tag line (hear me roar) is the exact feeling you get when you start the FX. It has a GREAT rumble to roar start.
I'm figuring I can get 200-250K easy on the FX before I get bored with it (or it breaks down). Would definitely purchase again.

Hello George and welcome to jaguarforums.com.
If you haven’t already you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for. To do this go to, User CP, Edit Signature, Add Vehicle Details and such and Save Your Signature.
Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site.
Also, should you have questions related to your vehicle please post it in the section for your model year (MY) car. This way you will reach all the members that are familiar with your MY car.

I really prefer the look of the black FX too. My husband has always been crazy about black verhicles and his last three vehicles have been black. Our Yukon is almost black being a dark gray. I have been looking at the FX 35's and see a lot of miles on the used ones. I'd rather not start out with a lot of miles on one. Somewhere between 25k and 35k would be great. I don't want vehicle payments so I will just have to wait on getting it. My yukon gets about the same mileage as the FX and so it seems crazy for me to change now but it also has 80,000 miles on it. I think maybe in a couple of years if I can wait that long. In the meantime I'll be saving my nickles up.
I'm disappointed that the FX doesn't get better gas mileage.
Oh, one question. What is the difference in the 45 and the 35?

45 is now the 50 I think. X cylinder versus the 6 in the 35.
Ours we bought with 16K on the odometer.had for about 18 months now.
We get over 20 on highway. Just frove 2 OH and avg. 24 per computer. It takes prem gas, and is noticably different, to me anyway, with a lower grade.
