Default New to Jaguars!

I have a 2003 XJ8 that belonged to an elderly relative and sat unused for several years. It has 18,000 miles. This is a fantastic car and I can’t wait to be driving it, but right now I am bedeviled by 3 OBD monitor issues that keep it from passing TX inspection:

Comprehensive Components, Catalyst, Evap

They register “Not Ready”, even after driving 300 miles, as recommended to reset the monitors.

I hope to clear these up so I can get on the road! I look forward to meeting other Jaguar enthusiasts here.

Hello, Vernon,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar XJ8!
These cars do Not like to sit unused for any length of time. Members of our XJ8 secion will certainly be able to help you sort all this out so you can DRIVE THE WHEELS OFF!!
Someone will be along shortly to direct you if you haven't already found your way.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Can you get the codes? Do you have a scanner?
Are you able to DIY the repairs?

I don't have a scanner. Will I need a special one, or will a generic scanner work?

Welcome to the forums Vernon,

You can drive normally for a very great distance before completing monitoring checks. Look for information on "drive cycles" - the quickest way to complete monitoring by following specific procedures.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/ to the X308 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Southwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-southwest-37/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
