Hi everyone i'm new to the forum i have a jaguar xj sport which is refusing to start . after doing some research it would seem it's flooded since this is the first JAG I've owned it is something new to me. i've removed one of the plugs and it does smell of fuel.
the next conundrum I have is i'm changing the plugs as part of the service, the ones in it are ngk r, plugs yet jaguar recommended platinum ones yet I keep hearing and reading that platinum plugs are prone to overheating and could possibly to damage to the coil packs is this the case or am I better just sticking with the ngk r ones thanks for your expected replies Lee.

Welcome to the forum Lee,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
Sort out the non-start and then worry about plug specification. Plenty of threads on 'bore wash'. Here's an example:

Follow this link XJ XJ8 / XJR ( X308 ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

thanks everyone for your replies got some good advice here first time i've heard of bore wash. Will give them a try, are the platinum plugs as bad as they are led to be just didn't fancy taking the plugs out putting them back in to replace them with new ones After, was going to buy some tomorrow with the rest of the service bits. What do you recommend ngk r, or the platinum ones as there is a big difference in price as well thanks again everyone

Welcome to the forums.
I've done tune ups on a lot of cars, the only time I ran into trouble was when I tried to outdo the manufacturer. I'd say use what Jaguar recommends.
I converted one of my Firebirds to all Accell products for the ignition. Three days later I'm getting towed home. It's got AC Delco parts in it now.
Enjoy the drive.
