Default New member - 2001 xj8 - first jaguar

Hi folks
I'm a new member in Shrewsbury UK, but have been reading your posts as a guest for some time.
I recently bought an XJ8 3.2 Executive 2001 as my first Jag (93000 miles). I knew it had a few problems:

Intermittent central locking fault on rear door
Check engine light and fault code P1647

Sorted out the minor bodywork issues, refinished the interior. Now I have to face the P1647 issue. Where is the best/cheapest place to get one from in the UK??

Welcome to this friendly Forum, Billy.
Have a good look at posts on O2 sensors before you buy - some of the aftermarket ones are dodgy.
Follow Norri's advice and enjoy your membership here.

Like your choice Billy Whiz..You've joined the best jag forum there is! You'll be blown away by the fuel economy of the 3.2 when highway cruising.
As your in the UK "google" Britishparts.com. These guys have treated me like a real person and have a passion for getting it right. (IMO)

Thanks fellas. I bought my Jag as an impulse buy, but knowing it had problems. I wanted to go on an advanced mechanics course in my spare time, but the fees were about £800....so I bought an old Jag, a pile of manuals ans some diagnostic equipment instead. Hands On Learning!!!!

Then I looked up this forum.
Having done "almost impossible" jobs before, (alternator on a Boxster, Radiator on an Alfa Romeo 156) I knew that joining a forum was a much better way of getting to fix a car than all the manuals you could buy. Good forum postings are better than a Haynes manual in the hand.
It's all good fun, and as the Jag is not a daily driver I can take my time to get the jobs done right. Thanks again.

Default A bit more advice please

Thanks for the welcomes guys!

I am trying to list my car in my "garage" but can't find a way to do it. Do I have to upload a photo?

Also, how do I create/edit a signature....can't find it anywhere.

This forum has the best smilies of any I ever joined.

Yep I hear you Billy! Maybe start with an Avartar (as I have no idea how to put a car in the garage) Going by the amount of empty garages nor does many others.
The magic happens with the "user CP" (control panel) click on it then down the left hand side you will find the info you are after. Yes an uploaded picture would help. The more you look around the forum the more you'll work it out.
Good luck.

to add the car to the garage - click the garage link at the top, select the add a new vehicle link which will open a window allowing you to add vehicle details, etc, scroll down toward the bottom and you will see the section to upload pics (you can add 3 pics at a time).

Welcome to the forum billy whizz,

To add vehicle details to your Signature, go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forum.
