New member 2005 XK8
Hi, I have a 2005 XK8 4.2s, owned it 10 months and starting to get to know it at last.
I have a good mechanical background and will tackle most jobs on cars.
I have found good advice/answers on this forum so far and look forward to using it more as I set about a few jobs on the car in the near future.
I will post some pictures of the old girl when I work out how!!
For now this will have to do!!

What.............another 2005 XK8 4.2S in NE England! These things are getting too common - it'll have to go
Graham
Well thanks for the welcome!
Thanks Jim for the upgrade and Graham I will get the car up for sale asap
Heres a picture of the beast, been a few tweeks since, clear lenses and XKR front grille.
Got the usual problems Ive seen posted, moisture in the headlamps, soft wishbone bushes scrubbing the inside of the front tyres and abs light when its cold and the battery is suffering.
All small stuff to get around to when it warms up a bit.

That must be 'Midnight' metallic? The dark colour certainly sets of the Sepang wheels nicely.
Mine is the light 'Frost Blue' which is growing on me after a succession of dark blue XJ saloons, a black XJ8L and a Pacific Blue XK8.

Yes the paint code suggests that it is midnight black.
I must say that the paint is very good on these cars, a good thick coat of laquer to polish at, unlike my last car, a Subaru that had the poorest thin paint on any car Ive owned.
I think the frost blue looks very classy.

Subaru is a tremendous performer but they have to keep the weight down any way they can!
Jaguar metal, galvanising and paint are a world away from even the XJ40 days, let alone the earlier BL time when an XJ6 would practically dissolve from the sills up over a five year period.
One thing that will drive you to distraction is the way the front bumper section, bonnet and windscreen attract stone chips. In the five years I had my last XK8, the bonnet was repainted once and the front bumper twice.

Welcome to the forum.
Great looking XK, you have there.
For info, my XJ40 has designs on becoming a Scubi, it is becoming lighter with age.
Head on out to the Detailing section and maybe check out some of Dave's work with clear bra protection.
