Welcome to the forums whitesock,

I've copied your question to S-Type forum for advice from members with the same model. Here's the direct link to it:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...8/#post2331461

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ed-v8-x200-15/ to the main S-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-western-38/ to find other members in your region.

I've added vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. If you want to change these, go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Hello, Whitesock. Welcome to the forum. Were the code readers that you used programmed to read Jaguar specific body/chassis codes? If you are receiving an error message on the dash and the readers failed to display a code, I suspect not...

You can always try the so-called "master reboot" which involves disconnecting the leads to the battery, waiting a few moments and then touching the positive and negative leads together to drain any stored voltages in system capacitors. The downside of this is that it will clear any stored codes including the ones like P1111 which indicates that all flags are set for an emissions check.

If you own an S-type, you really should also own a code reader that handles Jaguar DTCs beyond generic engine OBD-II codes; an example of a suitable reader is the iCarsoft i930, or LR-II/2,0.

Thanks for the response.
The code readers were not specific to jaguar. No error codes were displayed.

I check out the readers you recommended.

Thanks again.
