Hello.
From Chesterfield England
Jaguar XK8 1997 In very good condition. Virtually rust free. All bells and whistles work owned for 6 years.
Minor scratches and odd stone chips spoil it. Tried many 'magic' scratch removers, non seem to work. Any suggestions?

Hello,
And here's Another Xk8! They're crawling out of the woodwork lately.

You have obviously taken good care of your car. Thing is, stuff happens to drivers, which yours doubtless is. For stone chips, I got several bottles of nail color and chose one that matched pretty close (my car is BLACK, but do you know how many "shades" of BLACK there are?) and it helped Enormously! Nail color is a lot cheaper than touch-up paint and works better for such chips. From 5 or 10 feet it looks pretty good. At 15 feet, you'd never know there was a chip on it.

For those tiny scratches that make the finish look dull, I use Meguiar's Ultimate Detailer. Shake well and follow directions. About every year of so I give it a Clay Bar facial. Looks Marvelous after that.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forums Has Oldham,

Good to have you with us.

If the scratches are only in the clearcoat, a random orbital polisher will get them out or at least make the paint look a whole lot better. Look at 'detailing' threads for advice on pad and polish combinations.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
