Hello everyone. I am new to the forum. My apologies. In my haste yesterday, I posted a thread about some part numbers I needed but I should have first introduced myself.

I am an old guy and retired. I have owned my 2004 Jaguar XKR for not quite 20 years. I bought it used with very low mileage. Relatively speaking, it continues to have low mileage as I drive it only in the summer. I love to drive it but I hate trying to figure out what is wrong with it when it breaks down or trying to find a part for it as, by all means, I am not auto mechanic savvy. Furthermore, being an older vehicle, it is becoming more and more difficult to find part numbers and just as importantly, the parts themselves. I am very hopeful all you experts on this forum can help me maintain this vehicle so i can continue to enjoy it, otherwise, and I hate myself for saying, I may need to sell it to someone who is more auto savvy. Yuck!

Thanks Graham for your responses. I very much appreciate the time you took to set out the information. Unfortunately I was not successful in locating the JEPC. I would have thought there would be a link to access the JEPC. I did find the S N G Barratt website but no luck on finding part or the manufacturer's number for my vehicle.

I will take a look at the other two forums. My biggest concern is purchasing the door actuators from E Bay and finding out they do not fit my vehicle. One of the vendors informed me that not every XK8 part will fit my vehicle. I would have thought finding the part number using my VIN number would have been so much easier. I guess this is why we pay the big bucks to some of these mechanics to find the parts for these older vehicles.

I have not given up, at least not yet.

It's in the S N G BARRATT catalogue:

See pages 82 and 83.

Default Door Actuator

Graham, thanks for sending me your recent email together with the reference to the specific part shown in the picture of the S N G Barratt Catalogue. I spoke to a representative for some clarification and they were very helpful. Not sure I can find the parts but at least I know what I am looking for. What a great forum this is!

S N G Barratt offer forum members 10% off many parts. Doesn't apply to their entire inventory but worth asking if you buy from them.

The usual issue with door latches is failed microswitches. The latch can be dismantled and these replaced at a huge cost saving over a replacement latch. There's threads on XK8/XKR forum about this.

Default Door Latch Actuators

Graham, you are the best. I will do the research and see if my mechanic or possibly me can find and replace the microswitches. Stay tuned and thanks again.
