I guess I got jagged up today: sold an oldtimer yesterday, wanted to spend the money on a car, one that actually drives, and fell for the x-types I saw when thumbing through the car classifieds, made an appointment with the one selling what seemed to be the best option for us, and bought the car.
Our "2007 Jaguar X-Type 2.2 Turbo D 16v Cambridge" will be serviced before we pick it up next week, or at least that's what the friendly man at the garage said.
I'm new to the world of Jaguar drivers. We changed from the poor man's Porsche (924) to the poor man's Jag (x-type), so there are some similarities, but it's a very different car altogether.
But for now we're actually still waiting in eager anticipation.

About your signature: Nah, you haven't missed much, if anything at all, because you've been driving great cars of a good brand. I on the other hand have had other cars and I do miss what I thought was great about some of them but, then again, having a Jag can make up for the loss, so who cares? I can cherish the memories while appreciating what I have and still be satisfied.
With the information from the answer I got, I managed to find a few webpages (all in French) about the Cambridge edition. The last line on this page might explain why it's not a well-known version everywhere: http://www.turbo.fr/actualite-automo...mited-edition/
Google translation of the page (because, although I live in Belgium, my own level of French is below par):
Already high-end, the X-Type is encourgeoise with this version Cambridge finishes exemplary.
So British!
Reserved for the sedan, this variation is available in two diesel engines (a 2 l and a 2.2 l).
This elegant Jaguar sedan is usually equipped with dynamic stability control, fog lights, audio system with radio and CD, automatic climate control, power heated mirrors, and a perimeter and volumetric alarm, and finally 6 airbags!
The Cambridge variant features an interior and leather steering wheel, metallic paint, 17 "Belize light alloy wheels, a wood interior finish, a black mesh grille with body contour in the same tones as the body, and to finish luxury finish exhaust tips.
What more to ask this beautiful English, who has the habit of transporting the most important heads of state on the planet! Available in four colors, including the beautiful Shadow Gray, for the very diplomatic sum of 28,900 euros. Only weak point, this version is available for the moment only in Belgium!

Reason: corrected a link
Jaguar found "limited editions" of various models were very popular in the USA but has not marketed many in Europe. An example of the X-Type is the "Indianapolis".
Following the posts, it seems the "Cambridge" was exclusively marketed in Belgium as a top of the range specification. This will make it equivalent to the "Sovereign" in the UK and rest of Europe.

REALLY! No Kiddin'! LOL
Congratulations on your new Jaguar!

Just so people know: I'm the one who started off as the upside down bonobo (oqouoq).
I thought it better to put that here instead of making a new introduction thread.
3bd2lr7mn is just another way of spelling my name. That's all it means.
Today we finally got word that our cat's ready for adoption!
Here in Belgium we have this system where cars have to pass a separate test prior to sale to a private person, and we knew that our Jaguar needed some work first, but that's why we bought this one (and made a deal on the price regardless of the cost of necessary repairs). After nearly two weeks spent in eager participation (and a couple of reports of more delay and going through another test again) our patience has been rewarded. Now that our cat passed the test we can send the papers to the insurance company and apply for a new number plate, which usually takes a day or two. Yeah, it takes some doing before you finally get to drive the car you bought in this country.
Main thing though: the cat is ready and waiting for us to come and pick it up.
When I changed my car last December, I was able to transfer the registration to my name, transfer the insurance and tax it (all done online) and drive away in less than an hour.
I've often wondered why Belgium doesn't use the same standard registration plates as the rest of Europe. Clearly the answer has to be because it would stop Belgium from having an even more complicated registration system than anyone else!
I used to live in the Netherlands and there I drove every car home directly after agreeing on the price. Dutch plates stay with the car, and insurance takes just a phone call.
The Belgian system of an MOT type of test before selling to a private person is intended as a means to have less car wrecks in circulation and it offers buyers a bit more security, but it also means that time will pass between buying/making a downpayment for the car and eventually being able to pick it up. It's a lot more hassle buying a car here, especially if you shop nationwide instead of in and around your own town only. We also only get one plate, the rear plate, so we have to get it copied ourselves to put one on the front of the car as well.
[EDIT] The same sytem can also be useful in negotiation though. We agreed on a price for the car on the condition that it would pass the test, so all costs of repairs needed had to be paid for by the dealer. Fixing the knock in the engine turned out to be more costly than expected (by the dealer) and a makeshift (duct tape) repair of one of the headlights proved unacceptable, so that took a complete replacement of the unit. We would have bought the car for this price anyway, but now we got some repairs done before picking it up and without paying for that ourselves. The car's still going to a Jaguar dealer for a quick look-over though. We're not naive enough to expect perfection for only 40% of the official value of the car, but for this price there's some budget left to deal with the direct needs anyway.

Finally... The plates have been put on and I got to.drive the cat home, which was a nice drive of about 100 km, but it was a bit awkward to be enjoying that while following my wife who had to drive the other car back. She only got to see how it looks on the road when you're in another car.
