Default New Member From California ('05 XJ8L

Good morning. I'm a new member to this forum from Calabasas, California. I recently acquired one of my bucket list cars - a 2005 XJ8L w/42K miles in perfect cosmetic condition and mechanically fully functional and very strong (my first modern Jag). I researched the model extensively and read everything I could get my hands on including on this forum. I had the highest rated and recommended local independent Jag shop do an extensive PPI on her before my purchase, in addition to record checks w/the Jag dealer, Carfax, national lists, etc. I will post pix when I figure out the url.

I'm a long time experienced auto enthusiast w/a bunch of restored classic cars and high performance modern stuff including XK 140, E-Type, Corvettes (two '66 427s and '13 427 Collector Edition [essentially a Z06 convertible], 911 GT3, M3, etc.). Like most of you, I suspect, I've been into cars my whole life and have always driven interesting cars even during graduate and law schools when my finances were tight. (I'm a real estate transactional lawyer, so I build projects and don't sue people.)

Ford seems to have gotten Jags right during their ownership of the marque thanks to the billions they spent in improvements on what ultimately proved to be an unprofitable investment. A pity for them but a godsend for Jag enthusiasts.

My XJ8L is a back-up to my two seater sports cars necessitated by my wife (who won't drive in any of my other cars) and my two large german shepherds who luxuriate in the limosine-size back seat like corporate CEOs.

I look forward to participating with you all and appreciate having this resource and the benefits of the accumulated knowledge you guys graciously extend, particularly to newbies like me.
