Hello all . Name is Jim. Have a 1999 jaguar xk8 convertible with 140,000 miles which is currently out of commision due to bad shock mounts and an oil leak. Am going to tackle both in a few weeks hopefully but just wanted to say hi.
Welcome to the forum Jim,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR tech section so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Lower Atlantic Region forum by following this link Lower Atlantic - NC SC FL GA - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.

finally got around to working on the jag since i had some free time . replaced the shock mounts and shocks a chore by myself at 64 . do it again probably not but then dont have the money to pay someone else so yeah i would but id really be not looking forward to it . next step replace the passenger bank valve cover gasket. time consuming but do-able. placed a dab of gasket sealer on the right back corner where previous leak was and yes it was definately overtorqued when they replaced the timing chain tensioners. got everything back together and of course the batterys dead from sitting for 6 mos so go to autoparts place and get the battery replaced . still wont catch so give it a shot of either in the aircleaner .few kicks and sputters but fired up . now the dreaded restricted performance . go buy a code scanner put it on and says rt and left bank knock sensors . clear the codes after driving it for a few days . everything is ok except the stabilizer control fail message. looked that up on here ,cracked the case open and can visibly see where the solder joint has seperated from the base . heated old solder and added a little new permatexed the case back together {a dremmel tool works great for splitting the case open} started the car up and only thing left is the abs light on now .go looking for the reason for that online and in the forums but to no avail went to store and light goes out .forgot the light doesnt go out till you get over 5mph talk about duhhhh. only code is p1000 which from reading is a reprogramming code that should clear with time after driving for awhile . thanks to all for the great info provided . couldnt have done it without you .

Jim,
You have been busy ........ and successful.
Code P1000 = Onboard Monitoring tests not completed since last memory clear. It will be replaced by P1111 when the tests have completed. You will always see one or the other of these codes.
I'm also 64 so you get no sympathy playing the age card!
