Hello to you all. I have just bought a 2008 XKR and despite reading the manual I can't find an answer to this question. When I put the ignition on I get approx 10 beeps and these appear to be coming from behind the passenger seat. Does anyone have any ideas please?

Welcome to the forum. There are lots of great people and information here.

To answer your question, it sounds like the front or rear parking sensor indicating an obstruction as a warning.

Welcome to the forum Miniman747,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

There's not a lot behind the passenger seat as anyone who has ever been squeezed into the rear seat will soon tell you! I like XJL's suggestion as the only beeping sound on the vehicle is from parking sensors. Other warnings have the 'ding' sound from the Instrument pack area.

Follow this link XK / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK/XKR forum for help, advice and information.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Thanks for the welcome guys. The parking sensors would make sense as there are no other warnings either audible or visual.

This is my 1st Jaguar after wanting one since I was aware of some nice things with wheels on around my 1st Christmas! I'm a Locksmith so if anyone needs any help in that area I would be only too pleased to help.

Dave,

A scantool is an essential for troubleshooting these increasingly complex cars. Unfortunately only AutoEnginuity or SDD (the dealer tool) would read error codes on the parking sensing. However, the first thing to eliminate is a dirty sensor, physical damage or a poor harness connection to it.

Key and lock questions are a regular across most of the model tech sections and members are always horrified at the cost from Jaguar. Professional expertise and advice will always be welcomed. Several locksmiths are able to cut the older Tibbe style keys and some even have the facility to program them. The newer key blades in the Smartkeys on our cars are both expensive to buy blanks and cutting them seems a rare speciality so far.

A quick update on this one - I had the car serviced at HA Fox in Doncaster & the technician remembered my car and it turns out that the beeping is a Tracker

Default Welcome to Jaguar Forums

Welcome Dave ... and greetings from fellow enthusiasts in Australia.

The XKR is a great drive and you will find plenty of resources, advice and shared friendship here ... from the forum's main menu, jump over to the model specific XK8/XKR section where there is plenty to read and absorb.

I also encourage you to visit the regional section shared by other members in your area ... local and regional events are second only to the advice from fellow members of recommended service providers in your area.

Finally, if you haven't done so, please add your car details to your signature as a permanent flag to enable other members to offer accurate advice ... from Main Menu, click <User CP> then <Edit Signature>.

*** Dave, I must add a special thanks for reporting back with the cause of the beeping. Tracker eh? I park our S-Type in a very confined part of our garage and use the warning beeps from both front and rear sensors each time I enter ... so that whenever I start to drive out, I do so to the accompanying beeping your first described ... and commented on by XJL and Graham (GGG).

All that remains is to dive into the forum ... and enjoy!

Best wishes,
Ken
