Cool New Member Intro

Hello everyone. It's a pleasure to join your group. I have a 2002 Jaguar XK8, and I found your group because I LOCKED MY ONLY KEY IN THE TRUNK, and now have no option but to go to the dealer and pay for a new one. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THERE IS NO WAY TO OPEN THE REAR COMPARTMENT ON THAT YEAR AND MODEL as you can't use a key to open the rear and the button won't work because the alarm is keeping that from functioning. I don't know how I would fix a defective latch release it it ever broke. Well enough of that i just wanted to say HELLO!

Welcome to the forum JBfountain,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

You can't lock the keys in the luggage compartment with the alarm activated and the only thing that prevents it from opening on the button (either the lid or the dash button) is having Valet mode set. I recommend you post in the XK8 tech section with PRECISE details of the scenario for advice from mebers with the same model before having the vehicle towed to the dealer.

Follow this link XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Welcome.

I reckon that valet thing is more trouble than its worth, but then, I am down here.

Graham would be spot on in my opinion.

I did the same thing last year, locked the keys in the trunk then hit the valet button instead of the trunk release. Lucky for me my wife had the spare black key with her although she was 2 hours away. Hopefully someone will chime in with another way to open the trunk with the valet mode on.
