My accounts here and on the sister jag-website are almost 7 years old, without me actually ever owning a Jag. For almost a decade I always used to have 4-6 excuses on why it does not make sense for me to own an XJ.
Then two months ago I came across a US-spec '08 x358 XJR with 71k miles for an incredible price. And fate wanted it that the last excuse I was left with had been rendered moot sometime around June.
For last two months I have been the proud owner of likely the only V8 x358 in my country of Czech Republic. The likelihood of the car being the only x358 XJR in the country is even greater.
And the US-spec having +7 kW over the European one is the proverbial cherry on top. (Talk about a misplaced hubris.)
Those two months have taught me to spend way more money on parts and gasoline, and to use public transportation again on 4 out of my 5 trips to work. (The "unusual" fuel consumption being only one of three factors. Reliability not being a factor so far!)
The only change I made on the car that changed its appearance was to upgrade the parking lights with LEDs, as one of the original bulbs was busted.
