Hi all sorry if the below post is not in line with this forum's rules.

My late father-in-law was a Jaguar spare parts man. Although he had the odd Saab and TR parts as well, as well as some of Jaguar memorabilia etc.

He off loaded much of his stock before illness suddenly forced him to retire suddenly, I guess he couldn't part with everything though. I have been tasked with trying to offload the rest for the benefit of his wife and family.

Unfortunately he wasn't a big believer in labels as he had an encyclopaedic knowledge himself, so he frustratingly for everyone else, didn't use them. That has left me, not a car person myself, trying to work things out from scratch.

I am not sure of the rules here, but I am gradually posting items I unearth on eBay, using the same username as I am on this forum. I have found large collection of MK1,MK2 trims amongst others.

It is listed here <<<<<LINK REMOVED>>>>>. Am I allowed to post a link? From here you can search other items that I have found. Not all are to do with cars, it turned out that he collected quite a lot and different items, as well having his car parts business, however you might find something of use.

Happy hunting...

Welcome to the forums greensilver99,

I'm sorry to have to tell you the rules on advertising are in place to specifically prevent anyone registering simply to sell vehicles, parts or services.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

I wish you luck identifying and selling the parts but this is not the place to do it.

Graham

Default Sorry for the rules breach.

Sorry that I didn't read all the rules correctly. I thought it related to trade rather then private sales. However I understand. No more posts about selling. Am I able to post images of items that others might be able to identify. Obviously I won't list them for sale on this forum?

Many thanks,

greensilver99

I think the mod means you cant list them for sale in the New Member forum or post external links for sale. But we have an online forum where you can post items for sale so post them up in that forum.

As you don't know the model(s), you could post photos in General Tech Help forum asking if members can identify them.

A very good friend of mine died of a heart attack a few years ago leaving his daughter in the same situation. He had made a sort of a hobby out of rummaging through boxes at swap meets/flea markets and finding original Corvette parts. I put her in touch with a Corvette parts reseller who I knew would spend the time to inventory and give her a fair offer on the lot.

I like to watch Barn Find Hunter on yt. Tom Cotter finds all these collections of rusty old cars, but if you pay attention, there's often tons of loose parts in the background, no labels, no organization. I know the mindset because I suffer it. You have an old car that you love, you know how hard it would be to find a part for it when you need it, how many months the car would be laid up while you search, so when you see an opportunity to purchase a spare, you grab it. Or you're worried that even new service parts like air filters or gaskets will be obsolete the next time so you order two or three.

But more than a few car collectors and enthusiasts die before they ever use all those parts. The family don't know what they are, don't have any clue how valuable they are and don't have the interest to educate themselves about it. Last summer I helped another friend clear out an old horse barn full of cars and parts (lousy place to store a car) because after the property owners demise, the heir insisted that she wanted to use the barn for actual horses again. As we worked in the heat and humidity, excavating cars from the dirt floor, cherry picking only the most valuable parts and making a pile for the scrape metal man, I was thinking that probably most "parts collections" like this wind up getting thrown out in the garbage.

I suggest to get in touch with your local chapter of a Jaguar owners club. A rousing game of "name that part" would be great fun for their next club meeting.

Hello,
I wish you success disposing of this lot.
I'm Sure some of this will be No Longer Available Anywhere, and if people knew what and where it was, some of them would give Body Parts to have it.

I hope you find each other.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
