New member in the middle of nowhere USA.
Seriously. The middle. Like equal distant from either coast or border.
Here's my Jag story so far....
I bought my X308 two years ago.
Everything was in good order, but I read about timing chain tensioner problems, and decided to act preemptively.
I took my engine apart, replaced the plastic junk (which was not cracked btw), and put it back together. Engine wouldn't fire. Sounded like it had no compression.
First spark plug I pulled had 15psi.
Took it all apart again. Everything looked good/lined up. Pulled the passenger cylinder head off. No obvious contact between the valves and pistons.
Walked away in disgust. Left the car at the back of my shop since June 2013.
Last week I started dinking around with it again. Decided to fiddle with the VVT phasers on the end of the intake cams. Found them both turned clockwise as far as they could go(advanced?). Read somewhere that they're supposed to be turned counter-clockwise(retarded) during assembly. Conceptually this sounded like the cause of my problems. I cranked those dudes all the way to the left, and today I'm putting the rest of my motor back together.
