Greetings. In early May I became the owner of a silver 2007 XJ Super V8 with 70k. I’d been driving a 2012 Mustang V8 6-speed for six years, and loved it, but a coupe was no longer family-compatible and, though I hang my head in shame to say so, day-to-day shifting had become more chore than joy.

I watched the market for a while and thought I’d found the perfect intersection of depreciation curves. Ha! On the first test drive, it died. The dealer - not a Jag dealer - had it flatbedded to a Jag dealer where the fuel pump was replaced. I came back to it (you see where this is going, right?) and decided to pull the trigger. (An apt metaphor). On the 500 mile drive home, the CEL came on.

I brought it to my local Jag dealer and they called me back in a few hours. The Service advisor’s first words: “You got any recourse on this car with the selling no dealership?” An $8k estimate. I went to the local independent I’d identified before purchase. We started with two new coils and all new plugs. CEL came back on. Next was two new O2 sensors. Light still there. This week the cats (small “c”) are being replaced. Fingers crossed.

Turns out it was also a smoker’s car. I’m rid of the worst of it. Hopefully replacing the headliner, which needs doing, will get me 99% of the way there. Then there’s repairing the rear driver-side headrest; getting the auto-adjust on the steering column to work ALL the time, not most of the time; fixing the overhead console (spectacle holder) and the armrest latch; and straightening the bent Sepamg wheel. Oh, and that ever so slight, barely noticeable nudge from the trans, issuing after coming to a stop.

When I was six years old, my father brought me a Corgi Jr. e-type from England. I was smitten. The X350, to me, is the last identifiable Jaguar. I know the hate for the body design, but for me, this day has been forty years in the making. I only hope I can make finally make a go of it.

Regards.

Yeah, we've all heard those "*** Hither" stories, and we absolutely believe them!
Once one of these cats fixes you with that stare, it's all over: Resistance is futile, there's no fight left, only capitulation.

One thing's for sure, and I speak from personal experience here, by the time you get your car sorted out, or maybe even before that, the two of you will be well and truly bonded.

Welcome to the forum TMonk,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

A bent Sepang could be a problem - they are becoming very hard to find. I hope it's only the trim ring that's damaged.
